STELIOS FOUNDATION DONATES 550,000 CANS OF TOMATO SOUP TO UK FOOD BANKS IN THE TRUSSELL COMMUNITY

Following last year’s £1 million expansion of the ‘Food From the Heart’ programme into the UK.

The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation (a UK registered charity www.stelios.foundation), is pleased to announce a donation of 550,000 cans of tomato soup to Trussell, a leading anti-poverty charity supporting a community of food banks.

Founded and led by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, creator of the easy family of brands (see www.easy.com www.easyHistory.info) and President of the Foundation, this initiative forms part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to tackling food insecurity through its long-running ‘Food From the Heart’ programme.

The donation will support food banks across the UK, with distribution coordinated via Trussell’s partner Food and Community Trust (FCT), which also operates Sheffield S6 Foodbank. FCT supplies food to more than 80 food banks within the Trussell community across the UK, helping ensure that essential items reach people most in need.

The cans of tomato soup have been sourced from Kiril Mischeff Limited, a leading UK-based supplier whose Rodina brand is widely available in supermarkets. The donated cans will feature cobranding from the Stelios Foundation, Trussell and Rodina.

This contribution builds on the Foundation’s 2025 expansion of its Food From the Heart programme into the UK, which was launched with a donation of chilli con carne cans worth more than £1 million in retail value to Trussell.

To mark this year’s donation, Sir Stelios visited Trussell’s Lambeth and Croydon Foodbank warehouse on 14 May 2026. During the visit, he met staff and volunteers, received an overview of the warehouse’s operations, and saw first-hand how food is distributed to local communities, including the previously donated chilli con carne and the latest tomato soup cans.

Originally established in 2013, the Food From the Heart programme operates across Cyprus, Greece and the UK. To date, it has distributed more than 42 million snack food items to people in need.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, said: “I am delighted to build on our partnership with Trussell through this latest donation. The Foundation’s Food From the Heart programme has supported communities in Cyprus and Greece for over a decade, and since its expansion into the UK last year, we have already seen the positive impact it can make for people facing hardship. I’m pleased to continue working with Trussell to help address food insecurity in the UK.”

Emma Revie, Co-Chief Executive of Trussell Trust, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Stelios Foundation for this generous donation to the Trussell community of food banks. As we see food prices continue to rise, food banks across the UK continue to provide emergency provision to millions of people facing hunger and hardship. This donation will allow food banks to keep providing this vital support as we work to end the need for food banks in the UK, for good.”
