Today, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation announces a strategic partnership with The Earthshot Prize – the world’s most prestigious and impactful environmental award.
This partnership marks the midpoint of the Earthshot Decade – a pivotal moment in a journey that has already celebrated over 8,000 nominees and 75 finalists from around the world. Each one showcases the creativity and impact essential to building a thriving, sustainable future for all.
The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation’s dedication to support ambitious entrepreneurs and nurture incredible talent aligns with The Earthshot Prize’s mission to identify, celebrate and back environmental entrepreneurship. Launched in 2020 by HRH Prince William, The Earthshot Prize is driving a bold, decade-long mission to accelerate climate action and create global change.
The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation supports a wide range of charitable initiatives in the six countries its founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, calls home: the UK, Ireland, Greece, Cyprus, France, and Monaco. Since 2010, Sir Stelios and easyGroup have donated over €122 million to the Foundation, which funds scholarships, awards for entrepreneurs, and food aid programmes such as Food from the Heart, including partnerships with organisations like the Trussell Trust in the UK.
As part of this strategic partnership, The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation will join The Earthshot Prize’s Global Alliance of Founding Partners.
This group of leading global organisations and philanthropies plays a critical role in identifying, scaling, supporting and catalysing investment in pioneering environmental and climate solutions with the potential to drive systemic and scalable impact, bringing the strength of their robust network and expertise.
The Global Alliance includes the likes of Bloomberg Philanthropies, Breakthrough Energy, Bezos Earth Fund, Temasek Trust, Standard Chartered and Uber, among others.
